Notaula for iPhone, iPad and Mac

Email: devkeyapps@gmail.com. Tell us your device, its system version and what you expected to see. If an average looks wrong, include the grading scale and the grades involved. Please do not send your students' names: made-up names reproduce the problem just as well. Replies within two working days.

Frequently asked

How do I enter grades quickly?
On iPhone and iPad, tap a cell: the number pad stays open and moves to the next student after each grade. With a keyboard, and on the Mac, type the grade and press Return, or move with Tab and the arrow keys. In a mark column, press V for ✓, X for ✗ and / for ½, or use the ✓ ✗ ½ buttons.
I changed a grade by mistake. Can I get the old one back?
Yes. Every value a cell has held is kept. Touch and hold the cell (right-click on the Mac) and choose History: you see each earlier value with its time and device, and one tap restores it.
I deleted a student, a column or a class.
Open History and backups in the sidebar. Under Recently Deleted, everything you deleted in the last 30 days is waiting, with everything under it, photos included. Choose Restore.
How does an average come out the way it does?
Tap the average (touch and hold and choose How it was calculated on any cell). You see every grade that counts, its weight, the categories and the rounding rule.
How do I use Notaula on my iPad, iPhone and Mac together?
One purchase covers all three: download it on each device with the same Apple Account. Then turn on Settings → iCloud sync on each device and open the app again. Your gradebook syncs through your own private iCloud storage. The first sync can take a few minutes. If two devices change the same grade before they sync, both values are kept in the cell's history and the later one is shown.
Sync says "Your iCloud storage is full".
iCloud refused the upload because the storage on your Apple Account is full. Nothing is lost: your changes stay on this device and sync on their own once there is space. Free up iCloud storage, or add more, in the Settings app under your name → iCloud.
Sync says "Sign in to iCloud" or "The iCloud account changed".
Sync uses the Apple Account signed in on the device. Sign in to iCloud in the Settings app, the same account on every device. If the account changed, your data on this device is safe and stays there.
Where are my backups?
Three layers, all under History and backups: every grade's history, Snapshots (taken every day, before every deletion or bulk change and before every update; you can restore a single class as a copy or in place), and A copy you own: every week a spreadsheet of every class is saved in the Files app, or in iCloud Drive → Notaula when sync is on. It opens in Excel or Numbers even without the app.
Can I lock the app?
Yes: Settings → Lock with Face ID (or Touch ID, or your device passcode). While it is on, the app switcher shows a blurred screen instead of your gradebook.
How do I add my class list?
When you create a class, type the names, paste a list copied from a spreadsheet or your school's system (one student per line; extra columns are fine), or import a CSV or Excel file. You see a preview before anything is added.
My country's grading is different.
Notaula comes with the grading of many school systems (0–10, 1–6 with + and −, 0–15 points, marks out of 20, percentages with letter grades, 1.0–7.0 and more), each with its pass mark, terms and grade key. Everything stays editable in the school year settings. If your system is missing, write to us.
Can I keep my pupils' data in the app?
The data stays on your devices and, with sync on, in your own iCloud storage; it never reaches us (see the privacy policy). Whether you may keep pupils' data on a personal device is set by your school or education authority, so please check their rules.
I need to restore my purchase.
There is nothing to restore: Notaula is a one-time purchase with no in-app purchases. Download it again on any device signed in to the same Apple Account, at no charge, from the App Store's Purchased list.
Refunds
Purchases are made through Apple, so refunds are Apple's process: reportaproblem.apple.com. We cannot issue them ourselves.
